2019 ended with a rise in four major categories:

Robberies went up by 3.1 % (probably stemming from cellphone theft from peoples dependence on them for purchases and also addiction to texting and binge watching)

Assaults are up 1.4% (due to sudden rise of attacks based on anti-Semitism)

There were 766 total shootings a rise of 2.9% from 2019 and murders cracked the 300 mark in three years with a total 318 in the safest big city in the world

One evening in December, one murder would wind up getting international attention.

Manhattan

In Morningside Park, an 18-year-old woman, Barnard college student and bass player went for a walk in the park nearby her school and then was attacked and brutally beaten on the base of the stairs in a robbery attempt and was stabbed multiple times all over her body. The woman crawled up the stairs while bleeding profusely that got the attention of a patrol guard by Columbia University who just came back from doing his rounds. A butterfly knife and a phone belonging to her were found next to her body. The woman bled to death hours later.

What was initially described in the NY Daily News and NY Post as an attack by a group of men was debunked when the NYPD arrested a 13-year-old boy suspect that reportedly confessed to being an accomplice to the murder. The boy told investigators that he was with his two friends, both 14, and was just looking to rob people. He said they came upon the woman after his friends saw a man and didn’t bother with him and went after her. The boy then recounted his friend putting her in a headlock and going through her pockets then stabbed her when she fought back and bit his other accomplice on the finger.

One of the boys was also arrested but was released for lack of evidence, and the boy suspected of committing the murder reportedly showed up to the precinct for an interview but ran away and was out of state for weeks. The NYPD then put up his picture for publishing in the local papers and websites. He finally returned to Harlem with his relatives and met with the defense attorney and was subsequently not charged and released, as the boy in custody remains the only one charged with the killing even though he claimed he never stabbed her. Although he alleged in his account of the homicide that he did pick up the knife and handed it to the alleged killer before they both ran from the park. Then there is part where the victim bit the boys finger that led to the stabbing, so far no DNA report has surfaced of the suspect who just resurfaced. The lone suspect is still imprisoned in a juvenile facility as he awaits trial in family court in March, as the killer is still roaming on the streets.

As the search for the murder weapon on the parks grounds and ponds were fruitless, the NYPD has been extremely cautious in handling this. The chief of detectives, on his first week on the job, refused to respond on the progress of the homicide case (although he did reveal that the third suspect never did run away when he was brought to the precinct). In a combination of trepidation and stonewalling, it’s clear that the NYPD and prosecutors don’t want this to turn into a Central Park five case from exactly 30 year ago that will cost the city another 50 million dollars.

Mayor de Blasio’s response to the murder from his crooked mouth was moronic and tone-deaf as expected, as he remarked how unbelievable that a killing like that could have happened in this city and under his watch at that place (his actual sentence structure). But as usual with the pathological, habitual lying mayor; the facts on the ground belie those parsing words. Because Morningside Park is still treacherous to walk around there at night (and day) despite all the constant reports and press release boasts of lowering crime in the last two decades as robberies have rose 82% in the park in the last year.

In fact, just a few weeks before Tessa Majors murder in Morningside Park, a man was attacked inside a dog park by a man who attempted to hold him up at knifepoint, but the man clocked him in the face and the suspect ran away as the man fell down a flight of stairs after the tussle. Outside of the park a food delivery man was held by two men brandishing a knife and a gun and robbed his scooter, $60 and his cellphone. During the search of the park a few days after the murder, cops nabbed a man for holding up an app-food delivery guy and stealing his bike.

But it’s not just the usually clueless mayor to cite to blame, for Columbia and Barnard were not diligent enough to warn students about the rise in crime in Morningside Park, as students either had to hear from more streetwise students or presume it was safe probably because of the safest big city narrative being constantly bandied about by elected officials and NYPD monthly pressers and parroted by corporate local news media.

Speaking of the NYPD, the NY Post did a followup story on rising crime at Morningside Park with a student from Columbia who was attacked on those very same steps where Ms. Majors was slayed, when three boys surrounded him and robbed $120 off him when one of them flashed a box cutter at him. This was his recollection:

“They asked me where I was from and if I had any money. At first, I didn’t think they were threatening me, so I told them I didn’t have any money. Then, they showed me an open knife, so I gave them my wallet and they took my money,” Yu told The Post Friday from his Harlem apartment.

“I was surprised this happened to me. Before I came, I heard that New York is pretty safe, but I encountered these things and it’s really unfortunate.”

When Yu went to the NYPD to report the incident, he was told “several people” had been robbed at the same place “by the same teenagers” but cops couldn’t do much about it because “they aren’t adults.”

“When I heard about the girl who was killed, I thought it was the same group of teenagers, and I was scared,” the student went on, adding he plans to take the campus shuttle from now on.

Do you know what this really means? That if Tessa Majors survived the mugging instead of bleeding to death on the stairs and being that the accused are all minors, the NYPD would have done nothing to help her.

It means that the NYPD is culpable for the death of Tessa Majors.

As well as New York City and State for these misinformed and poorly written bail reform laws and quite possibly the unethical machinations that led to ratifying the eventual closing of Rikers Island. But mostly the culpability of Majors death and any recent past and current victim of violent crime is on de Blasio and the departed commissioners William Bratton and James O’Neill for continuing the blue wall of insouciance.

It kind of makes you wonder if these low rung criminals are able to stash this stuff in cubby hole spots in the Tombs, imagine what some rogue federal official would be able to leave behind for a mercenary killer to pick up and use on an international person of interest in a understaffed prison with exhausted and jaded C.O.’s like the Manhattan Correctional Complex a block away on Centre St.

This chain of violence uncannily resembles what led to the Crown Heights riots between the Black and Hasidic communities 30 years ago. From the boy victim that originated it to the innocent victim that got caught in the middle. The difference is that nobody died and the groups involved are religious extremists and gangbangers. And this story got ignored because it was covered by a Christian news website and an right-wing blogger.

Also in Bed-Stuy, a fireman and a garbageman got into a street hassle and then brawled with each other over a parking spot. One of them got charged with weapons possession, but the NYPD did not disclose to news scribes what kind of weapon it was.

When the man’s friend tried to stop them, one of the men shot at him and missed and then they drove off. The men bounded their abductee with duct tape and zip ties and put him inside a car that they met up with. The driver and his passengers dumped the man in East Flatbush and stole his cellphone.

The cops finally came back and arrested her for the third time when she missed an appointed court date.

And again in Crown Heights, a man entered that same Lubavitch center and yelled at the congregants that he was going to kill them all.

And again in Crown Heights, a man walking on the sidewalk was hit with a chair from behind thrown by a boy who was with six other kids. When the man confronted them they chased him and punched him in the face. The man didn’t file a police report because of his awareness of the state’s new bail reform laws that doesn’t set bail for misdemeanors like random assaults based on bigotry.

The little fuckers then approached and punched another man a few blocks away and pushed him to the ground and beat him up as one dickhead filmed the assault on his phone.

And again in Downtown Brooklyn, a raccoon has called the Nevins St. Station his/her home and refused to cooperate with the NYPD and their food bribe they left in a trap by the tunnel.

And again in Downtown Brooklyn, a man being a nuisance as he was bothering passerby and drinking booze in public, was approached by two cops who told him to move along. The vagrant then sucker punched the cop and wrestled him to the ground and would not release him, as his partner tried to remove him by pleading with him as she hit him with her baton that had no effect on him.

The vagrant was eventually arrested and brought to court then immediately released without bail. So he predictably went back to the location where the incident took place. He was so enamored with his good fortune, he gave a big cuddly smile sporting a little bottle of vodka too . Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was.

In Coney Island, a man was shot in the stomach in the hallway following an argument with another man inside the Callway Houses apartment building. He later died from his wound.

Also in Coney Island, four men and a woman shoplifted $40 worth of candy from a chain pharmacy and the woman sprayed a chemical liquid at workers who tried to stop them.

Bronx

In Morrisania, a 61-year-old man and his boyfriend were confronted by a gang of men who demanded money. The two then ran but the elder man got caught by one of the men who grabbed him by his coat, spun him 720 degrees and threw him to the ground, then stomped on him and punched him in the head various times as another man ran up and kicked him. Then another man picked up a city garbage can and threw it on the victim. The lynching went on for 15 minutes. They then robbed the beaten man of a buck and left him lying unconscious. The man died from his numerous injuries four days later.

Only one person has been arrested from this lynching and it’s a teenage male who said he never touched the victim as the other thugs are still on the loose. Sounds like what’s going on with the Tessa Majors case.

In Grand Concourse at the 149th St. Station, a gang of six men repeatedly beat up, slashed and stabbed a 15-year-old boy while he was in the turnstiles. Though the victim survived, this attack isn’t that distinguishable from Junior Velasquez’s brutal lynching death on a Bronx street corner last year.

In Concourse Village, four men getting high and being obnoxious while loitering in an lobby at an apartment building invaded an apartment where a family was celebrating Christmas and stabbed four men inside.

In Hunts Point, two teenage males engaged in a knife fight over a girl and one wound up in the hospital from getting stabbed in the chest and the other one wound up dead after getting stabbed three times in the torso.

In Soundview at the Morrison Ave. Station, a man in red is talking to a teenage girl on the 6 train and then he suddenly picks her up and gets off and sits on a bench with her in his arms. The girl breaks free and wakes up the man next to her and her brief captor walked away as the man she was with threatened to shoot him “if she was his daughter”.

The next day, the man in red wore black but was immediately recognized on the street from the viral video and was treated to heaping load of ultraviolence by a group of men who shoved him to the ground and kicked him repeatedly as he pleaded that he didn’t harm her. Cops detained and then released him on his own recognizance. I think this guy is just eccentric and attention should also be paid to the guy with the girl on the train who left his gun at home.

In Throggs Neck, the Hells Angels bought a house for their new headquarters and are driving their neighbors crazy with constant noise from their revving motorcycles.

A fugitive pimp wanted for sex trafficking three teenage girls and extorting a 17-year-old girl was caught and arrested after hiding out at a buddy’s apartment and tried to flee from the cops by jumping out his window. In Co-Op City, a 17 story wind turbine generating power for three billboards standing below it dismantled when the fucking wind blew and fell off the ugly black post and crashed onto the street and demolished a car. One of the billboards also came down and landed on the gas station it stood over. The piece of shit green energy generator was only installed a few weeks earlier against the community’s objections and in the middle of the night as they slept.

Residents expressed utter delight at seeing it destroyed.

In neighborhoods policed by the 121st Precinct, garages and sheds are being broken into and burglarized of bikes and tools in a crime spree.

Final note on the sputtering homicide case of Tessa Majors:

A grown ass man did it.

The Boulevard Of Zombie Condo Development

Woodside And Elmhurst, Queens, N.Y.

Remember when Queens Boulevard was called the boulevard of death? Because of the high amount of vehicular accidents that put the fear of death in pedestrians that out of necessity would dare to tread across the four lane quasi-highway? Well, it has got comparably safer to commute and cross than in the past, but it has been replaced by a new form of existential threat, and that is over-development. With this post, I bring forth three technically new buildings that have been built but have remained strangely unfinished and apparently have yet to be occupied. (But strangely they are already on the market).

Welcome to the christening of Queens Boulevard as the Boulevard Of Zombie Condo Development here in Impunity City

Your city.

Lets begin at this mesh covered monstrosity at 64th St.

This sign has aged quite a bit, but upon closer inspection, this building was supposed to be completed a few days from now in the year 2018

Next, let’s cross the BQE and check out this budding condo building by 69th St.

Look it’s already garnering interest, but too bad the poor buyer is going to have to wait a little much longer, for this was supposed to be done in the vague completion date of Winter 2018

But the one down the block by 70th St. and Queens Blvd. is the most undead of them all.

But at least it comes with genuine street art, so the developer saves a few dollars on artwashing, avoiding to commission some bland pseudo famous graffiti tagger.

Lo, this zombie condo complex is four years behind schedule…

This building gives off quite an ghoulish aura of mystery. For who knows when construction actually started for this development and when it actually stopped. And of course why it stopped, for there is no D.O.B. certificate on it like the others and a stop work order was clearly and vainly ripped off the building placard.

To be fair and balanced here, those photos were taken in late August/early September. And some progress had occurred when I returned on a mild day just before Thanksgiving…

The mesh was taken off of the 58th building. But it still remained dormant and not a creature was stirring. Well, surely rats might be stirring in this one, they are fricking everywhere and prefer to squat in these ample abodes if they are not in a NYCHA building.

Well, most of the mesh is off. And the faded placard is still there after 3 months.

The 69th St. building was less zombiefied. For what looked like there were what I assume are contractors or realtors present.

But the zombie building on 70th is still in craptacular shape…

…and to go along with the eerie vibe when one passes by, it seems the zombie condo building has become haunted. Because some entity or apparition put up some real estate banners on some of the crappy little balconies on the higher floors.

The genuine graffiti still remains. The same tags too.

And the same placards still remain too, even the scraped stop work order wasn’t even removed by the elements or even a dabble of goo gone. Which doesn’t do much to ward off suspicion about why this building is still like this for so much time. And it’s safe to presume that there is no “affordable housing” in these complexes because the developments were initiated before the de Blasio’s bullshit Housing New York program got implemented.

With the widely reported and countless updates about the dearth of affordable housing and the escalation of the homeless population, it’s shouldn’t be perplexing why these luxury condo buildings (at least what they are advertised to be) are wasting so much space without being used for so long. Another big waste is how the city gave them permits to build these zombie condos in the first place despite the need for more more housing and better quality housing for the poorest citizens of the five boroughs.

The biggest irony of all is the next big residential complex a few blocks away is the Pan American Hotel, which has operated as a homeless shelter in almost the exact amount of years has the 70 St. Zombie Condo development has been behind schedule for completion. In fact, the hotel may have started being a shelter the same exact year as the perceived schedule completion date!

Another interesting about these zombie buildings is that those bike lanes were approved and installed as these were still being constructed (except for ol’ 2015 there). Surely the city expected those residents there to be utilizing these lanes on the regular. But as those three zombie building eyesores remain lifeless, the bike lanes that were once universally rejected by the communities of Woodside and Elmhurst continue and still remain barely used and barren most of the time.

It might be apt to also call these zombie bike lanes too. Too bad this wasn’t much help for this bike shop since it got stretched to Rego Park either.

Yet still more unaffordable and unattainable condo development is still on the way on the Boulevard of Zombie Condo Development, leaving the working poor and shrinking middle class go wanting for a roof over their heads and the luxury of privacy.

This fugly zombie condo complex by the Queens Center Mall is a year late too.

Apparently, one clear reason that these buildings are taking so long to be finished is because of mandatory safety training rules that had to be made into law. Somehow they didn’t have the sense or the morals to implement these rules in the first place.

Somehow, these buildings are still just standing there unoccupied. Could be these condos are too pricey or to shitty looking to risk putting your savings in there and living in it for the rest of your life and probably too risky and not ample enough to raise a family in.

But at least the developer of this monster is showing some accountability:

It’s too bad when all of these zombie apartment buildings finally get done (with the exception of Zombie 70), they will remain lifeless. These zombie condo buildings will just sit there gathering moss and dust as the real estate market speculation/fabrication for the cost of these dwellings ludicrously rise.

These towers only reason for existence is to show that you can work in this city, but you sure as hell can’t live in it. While hundreds of thousands of citizens can barely scrape enough cash to save to transition or to make the rent where they are right now.

Which sort of makes them zombie tenants.

James O’Neill, the second appointed police commissioner of Mayor de Blasio’s NYPD feebly quit his job protecting and has turned his back on the city of New York. But why? Isn’t this city the #SafestBigCity on this planet? Anyway, he’s leaving the five boroughs for sunny and burning California to become a cop for Visa credit services. Even though murders, rapes and robberies and gang violence went up the last two months and Southeastern Queens has seen what can be described as a massive rise in shootings.

And the fact that cops are involved in twice as many situations this year when they had to use their guns, notably in two incidents where cops got killed by incompetence fire from fellow cops. And over ten cops have committed suicide this year. He is walking away as the NYPD are being tasked to monitor the subway and clear it of homeless and prevent farebeating, which has led to consternation from the citizenry of police overdeployment along with arbitrary aggressive enforcement against churro ladies and candy sellers and is leading to clashes with kids and two anarchic protests in his last month as commissioner where people jumped turnstiles, even cutting a bar on one and sprayed anti-cop graffiti on the walls.

He’s turning his back on the city as the heroin epidemic is still spiraling out of control as streets and parks are littered with used syringes. He’s bidding adieu as thousands of delivery packages are getting robbed every day.

He’s splitting right after it was revealed that a porn star real estate agent was able to access NYPD headquarters with some money donations, similar to what Mayor de Blasio’s bubbies Jona Rechnitz and Jeremy Reichberg did when they were treating cops to Vegas and Super Bowl trips and Christmas presents. He’s jetting right after citizens voted to bring forth more transparency by the NYPD by giving the CCRB more powers to investigate and for D.A.’s  reveal cops records for any malfeasance while filing reports or testifying in court.

And the main reason why Jimmy is getting the fuck out of dodge is that he, along with the supposed law enforcement legend Willie Bratton before him, were trying to normalize and cover up a precinct commander’s arrest quota order to round up Black and Hispanic subway fare beaters instead of White or Asian ones as claimed in a lawsuit by a police sergeant and four other officers. That way O’Neill (and Bratton as well) avoids have to testify (or testilie) in court. Clearly this is what as led to the racial discrepancies with fare beaters that’s inspired all these current protests.

Smell ya later, James O’Neill. But certainly you will be back.

In South Jamaica, a 17-year-old girl was found lying dead and bleeding on the sidewalk from two stab wounds to her chest and abdomen. This death in the Jamaica area is the third one related to the gang war that caused a death of a 14-year-old boy and a serious injury to a 16-year-old girl from stray bullets meant for their rivals. This murder happened three blocks away from the basketball court where the boy was killed.

The 14-year-old boy was this girl’s cousin, and she went to live with his parents after he died. And she met her deadly fate because she was determined to find out who murdered him and met the demons that did, a man and a 17-year-old girl who is still on the loose that arranged a meetup with her. She was a real life Nancy Drew.

Also in South Jamaica, a man was stabbed to death in front of his apartment building.

Again in South Jamaica, a woman was stabbed to death and left on the street bleeding.

In Ozone Park, a man murdered his wife after they recently filed for divorce and after she put out an order of protection against him, then he committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in Spring Creek Park. After enduring months of abuse from him during their brief marriage where he would get furious over her fandom of a Bollywood star and her job as a bartender, she went back to his home to rekindle their relationship  and wound up getting stabbed multiple times.

Also in Ozone Park at the 80th St. Station, a man was beaten down by a gang of men when he wouldn’t open the emergency door for them.

Again in Ozone Park, a delivery man got jumped by two men who held him up at knifepoint, then brutally beat him down and robbed his cellphone, credit cards, $480 and his bike.

And again in Ozone Park, a 16-year-old boy stole a car with two kids still in the back seat, then sped down the street in the wrong direction and crashed into a tree.

And again in Ozone Park, a woman was sucker punched in the head while she was walking on the sidewalk and was robbed of her purse by a gang of women and men. The muggers then tried to sell her cellphone at a video game store a few blocks away.

In South Ozone Park and also South Jamaica, 300 houses were deluged with feces and sewage water from a backed-up four foot main pipe under the Belt Parkway. The imbecile de Blasio hired to run the city’s Dept. Of Environment Protection immediately blamed it on the residents for cooking dinner on Thanksgiving.

https://thenypost.files.wordpress.com/2019/12/queens-flooding-5.jpg?quality=90&strip=all&w=915

This man-made and city-neglect environmental disaster has left over hundreds of people homeless and has left a stench that will take infinity to get out. Might as well make this part of the dirty Southeast of Queens a superfund site.

In Jamaica, a man stole a car and jumped out when the cops came after him, then it rolled onto the sidewalk and hit a 60-year-old woman standing there and killed her.

Also in Jamaica, a man was busted with 37 pounds of fentanyl inside a compartment in the drivers cab of his truck. This led to a massive drug bust leading to 10 others getting arrested for possession of over 130 collective pounds of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and carfentanil; the latter a new chemical over 100 times more potent than fentanyl.

Again in Jamaica, an off-duty cop fighting with his wife grabbed her cellphone as she was closing the door on her car.

And again in Jamaica, a LIRR train got derailed just as it was heading to the station leaving 600 passengers stranded on the Babylon line tracks for hours. The tracks were supposedly inspected only a few hours earlier.

Screenshot_2019-12-04 (2) Narvin Singh Ⓥ on Twitter 1 Jamaica Center subway station in Queens Cops on top of and handcuffin[...](3).png

And again in Jamaica, a homeless woman was grabbed by two cops then they threw her to the ground and slapped handcuffs on her because they thought she needed help getting to a hospital as the president of the city’s health and hospitals department callously stared down at the process like Nurse Ratched.

hha presidentratched

And again in Jamaica, a man sexually molested and attempted to kiss an 8-year-old girl at a shopping mall just a month after a charity group posted his $2,000 bail after he got arrested for sexually assaulting a 3 year-old boy by putting the child’s head in his crotch at a laundromat in Woodhaven.

In Astoria, a man snatched a cellphone right out of a woman’s hand while she was checking on her app-hail ride.

Also in Astoria, an off-duty cop was slashed three times and had his jewelry robbed by an irate driver when he rear-ended his car in a traffic accident.

Again in Astoria, a man was beaten and stabbed to death behind a mixed use apartment building.

And again in Astoria, a man robbed a bank by a passing a note but was caught by cops in the area and then ran towards the nearest train station. The suspect got cornered on the platform and then fell to the street below when he tried to climb down a support post.

And again in Astoria, a man broke into a 75-year-old man’s home while he was still there and stole $9,000 from his bedroom.

And again in Astoria, two men were caught stealing cosmetics at chain pharmacy and escaped by flashing a boxcutter at workers.

In Elmhurst, hundreds of kids showed their appreciation to their school letting them off early on a Friday by engaging in a riotous rumble in the food court at the Queens Center Mall and then started looting and trash the stores inside, compelling the managers to bring the gates down as the fighting spilled out on the street. The chaos on the street was initiated by one girl who was filming something on her cellphone and got beat down by a gang of girls for it, as the fracas inside the mall was triggered by someone throwing fake money into the crowd.

It’s hard to gauge a timeline of what actually happened first, but this purge looks like it was premeditated by some of these rascals on social media.

I bet those school officials thought they were really cool. Surely they will get the same respect from these kids after this.

In East Elmhurst, a homeless man got stabbed to the death by a man during a fight in front of the shelter where he was staying and where his killer used to stay. Police haven’t found the perpetrator yet but going by the anti-car vitriol by transient bike riding residents and the agitprop narrative (terms like carcentric) being dispensed by city and bike concern blogs along with the pervasive influence on traffic policies by defacto city agents Transportation Alternatives, I bet this violent damage was committed by a bike zealot in some kind of protest. On the street where this current incident happened, there are no bike lanes.

The morning after, four more cars tires were slashed on Shore Road during the early daylight hours.

In East Flatbush, a man was roaming the streets waving a gun in the air and pointing it at his head and then used it assault a bike delivery man, the he bashed a car window and threatened a woman while she was parking and then whacked another car. He then bashed a window of a yeshiva.

This outburst is just has similar to the Saheed Vassel incident last year in Crown Heights, when he wound up surrounded by plain clothes cops and was immediately shot down and killed for being perceived as a threat. Vassel was holding a piece of junk and pretended it was a gun. This guy here clearly has mental problems too but is flashing a real gun, so how come the cops didn’t show up this time? In Cypress Hills, two cops responding to a fight by a bodega were suddenly in the presence of shots being fired and then found a SUV with a window broken. Even though they weren’t certain if they were targeted, this led to a massive NYPD over-deployment which included a team of body-armored cops with automatic rifles and the appearance of a military grade vehicle  to one block and wound up arresting one man. Nowhere in the actual story says that the cops were dodging bullets, but if you wanna prepare for war and treat a local city block like it’s a dystopian warzone you might as well write it up like one.

Queens

In Kew Gardens, a 6-year-old boy playing in front of his house was confronted by a man who walked up to him, picked him up and body slammed him to the concrete on the driveway. The boy’s neighbor followed the man as he walked away and sat on a curb muttering to himself and told him that he was bipolar and wanted to kill the kid, who wound up in critical condition from the random attack.

The man was found to be homeless, as this attack occurred a week after a psychotic homeless man murdered four other homeless people as they slept and brutally beat a man by the East River Park days before.

The homeless man has been in and out of psych wards and back in the street in shelters multiple times and it was found out that he assaulted an 80-year-old woman and robbed her ipad and had a warrant on him for missing a court date for an assault of a woman at a fast food restaurant where he bashed her leg with a chair. This man is basically the symbol of this lenience given to perpetrators from this city’s court system and the non-existent services of de Blasio’s wife’s abomination and scandalous Thrive mental health program.

In Lindenwood, two stray dogs were running loose on the street and then a cop shot one of them as they approached.

On the Grand Central Parkway, two homeless men camping out on a longtime city neglected community garden decided to solve a smidgen of the homeless crisis that got worse under Mayor de Bastard and built an actual house on the green space. Which was immediately destroyed by the Sanitation Department who sent some men wearing hazmat suits like it was a gas attack in Allepo, Syria.

de Bastard sternly proclaimed that your city (meaning his and his donor owners) will not tolerate encampments. But thousands of people living on the streets and families living in hotels and residents living in inhumane conditions in public housing is suitably tolerant for him. Dick.

Here’s something I overlooked about the purge incident involving a bunch of high school kids going batshit and vandalizing a CVS store in Forest Hills in the last New Bad Days, the precinct commander Capt. John Cermeli’s even batshit response about the incident on Metropolitan Ave:

“There were still kids around outside of the store but nobody from the CVS management could identify who was actually doing what, so we really couldn’t just arrest anybody,” he said.

The commanding officer added that the students weren’t stealing any items.

“They were just being mischievous,” Cermeli said.

Oh you goofy kids, causing mischief by rioting like that. And thanks for not stealing anything so we don’t have to file another report and put y’all threw booking. The blue wall of insouciance gets bigger and denser.

Brooklyn

In Downtown Brooklyn, a man arrested for robbery and domestic violence jumped out of police car and ran away while in custody and as he was about to be processed at central booking and was still at large. He finally got caught almost a month later. This should be remembered as the city builds the humane tower prison in nearby Boerum Hill.

Also in Downtown Brooklyn, a man killed himself sliding down a spiral banister and falling to the floor at the Brooklyn Museum during a private event.

Again in Downtown Brooklyn, gunshots when off inside the Jay St./Metrotech Station at the start of the afternoon when some man pulled a gun by a token booth and started blasting. Five people were subsequently arrested. The biggest mystery is why this story is not that detailed as it looks as if it involves gang violence.

And again in Downtown Brooklyn, a brawl between two groups of high school students spilled into the Jay St./Metrotech Station where the fighting continued as cops on the platform tried to break them up. During an arrest of one teenage male who allegedly fought back, a cop throws a punch at a teenage who tried to intervene then punched another teenage male who walked by him and they get into a fistfight. A 16-year-old girl got arrested along with three other teenage males during the melee. The overtly aggressive cop has priors for excessive force and the second kid he walloped is going to sue the city for five million dollars.

Days after this incident expectedly went viral, the cop got transferred to another precinct. And as usual with the disturbing secrecy conveyed by de Blasio’s NYPD, the cop or what station he now patrols for has not been identified. So keep an eye out for him, specifically fellow cops because this guy is going to get you in trouble.

And again in Downtown Brooklyn, a gang member pantomined a gun and pointed it at a man who was testifying against his cousin who was being indicted for a home invasion armed robbery where they impersonated police officers to shake down a drug dealer.

The night spot has been a destination hangout for over a decade with a multitude of noise complaints and eyewitness reports of open drug and alcohol use. In other words, vibrancy in action. How did the night mayor miss this one.

Also in Crown Heights,at the Franklin Ave. Station, a man hopped the turnstiles and ran into the arriving 4 train with around ten cops in pursuit of him. When the cops reached the platform, all of them drew their guns inside the train car filled with other commuters and pointed their guns aiming at the suspect, who sat their with his hands up. The doors opened and the cops swarmed and dogpiled on him and took him away. The NYPD took these threatening and hazardous measure because they were acting on a tip that he was armed with a gun.

Sofa King Read Hearted

Again in Crown Heights, two fire engines crashed into each other and hit two other cars when both were responding to a fire at a building.

Another 11 pounds of fentanyl and heroin were found stashed in three cars parked at one of the men’s house in Westchester.

In the South Bronx, hundreds of used syringes were found in a trash bag in a corner garbage can by a grade school and also found littering the curbs, sidewalks and tree beds.

In Van Cortlandt Park,at the Woodlawn/Jerome Ave. Station, a man got on the 4 train and sat down in front of a woman and started jerking off in front of her. But got his sticky hands cuffed because it turned out she was a NYPD detective.

In Fordham Manor, a woman got hit by a bus as she was crossing the street by Lehman College.

At Yankee Stadium, two men stole a news van from a local corporate news station correspondent and her crew and they drove it for two miles and abandoned it in University Heights.

In Highbridge, a steep flight of stairs that was used in a comic book movie about a villain’s evolution is being inundated with inconsiderate asshole tourists taking pictures of themselves mimicking a scene from it which has caused unneeded inconvenience and annoyance for the residents that live by it (and also didn’t appreciate a parody of it either). Especially for one decent and heroic man who bombed some of the morons with eggs and well-deserved insults. Way to go Eggman!

At the Bronx Criminal Court, a moronic judge released two men without bail who were arraigned for shooting their illegally possessed guns at people on the street and for beating the shit out of a man.

NYPD Fraternity Group Abuses City Placard Law On The Day City Council Ratifies Placard Abuse Law

Elmhurst, Queens, New York

This was posted first on Queens Crap but it bears repeating on here. And it surely fits the title of this digital publication, because this is one of the most brazen acts of impunity ever photographed considering the brief chain of events in the course of 12 hours.

First by the NY Post:

City Council members overwhelmingly backed Council Speaker Corey Johnson’s plan to rein in widespread abuse of city-issued parking permits, approving all nine of his bills he put forward to crack down on placard abuse.

“Placard abuse is corruption,” Johnson told reporters ahead of the Council’s Tuesday vote. “We’ve tolerated it for years as one of those unchangeable facts in New York City, but those days are hopefully over.”

Tell me/us more, tell me/us more Cojo. And maybe with less trepidation this time.

Critics frequently complain the NYPD fails to crack down on placard abuse since cops are frequently spotted misusing them, but Johnson told reporters DOI’s involvement ensures NYPD will take the issue seriously.

“We wanted an outside check,” Johnson said. “Traffic enforcement agents who are supposed to be writing the summonses and tickets … don’t always do it because they are afraid of policing the police.”

Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for both of those final comments by the speaker to manifest. Thanks to the ace photography of long time Queens Crap commentator and blogger George The Athiest:
Who:  The Columbia Association of the NYPD.
Where:  In Elmhurst on the Queens Boulevard south service road between the new Georgia Diner and Grand Avenue.
When:  Tuesday evening, November 26, 2019.
What:  Columbia Association police membership needs convenient and difficult to find on-street parking.
Why:  It seems that this membership has parking privileges that the rest of the citizenry does not.

Regular street parking cannot be found, so we
drive up onto the sidewalk.  Nice.

Screenshot_2019-11-28 Off-Duty Cops Get To Park On Sidewalk Next To Bicycle Lane (2)

As far as the eye can see, along the service road:
dozens of bumper-to-bumper private cop-owned cars
parked to the right of the bike lane up on the sidewalk.
The Grand Avenue cross street is just below photo at the
bottom.  The Georgia Diner is situated way off in the
distance in the upper left behind the stopped bus.

Illegally parked vehicles “respect” the bike lane by
not intruding on it although the drivers’ sides of these vehicles
are on the sidewalk.   Why can’t non- police owned vehicles
do the same in light of the recent loss of parking spaces
caused by bicycle lane construction?

All that’s needed is an official placard?

Apparently, the answer still is yes. But why would they de Blasio’s NYPD do this so brazenly and arrogantly? Back to the NY Post:

Of the nine bills passed, all but one was approved unanimously.

However, five council members voted against a ban on city officials parking in bike and bus lanes, at bus stops, in crosswalks, on sidewalks and in front of fire hydrants.

So that’s how the NYPD will continue to get away with placard abuse, it’s transparent that during the writing of this bill some beneficial loopholes had to be placed (wonder who the furious five were). But come on now, to do this on the same day? They could have waited maybe a day or two to go back to their recidivist power tripping habits and parked all their cars in a nearby garage, since they and de Blasio are usually obsessed with optics.

But what’s more concerning is the shocking lack of local news media scrutiny, especially from the so called city blogs that publish anything bike related like Gothamist and Streetsblog. Maybe it’s Thanksgiving and all but this happened on Tuesday and I published it immediately on the night it occurred when it was messaged to me by GtheA. I even made sure to tag it on the Twitter to the intrepid placard corruption and they immediately like and retweeted it.

Screenshot_2019-11-28 Notifications TwitterScreenshot_2019-11-28 (1) Notifications Twitter

Usually when they do this it goes viral, but for some reason nothing came up, no likes no retweets and no subsequent news or even a request from the networks or papers. You think with all the coverage that bike commuting is getting, from new infrastructure and street redesigns to a rise in cycling advocacy that this didn’t get any follow up outrage from them.

It’s sour grapes but I don’t give a shit. The NYPD should not have been doing this and it sets a bad example to every citizen, young and old and will cause even more scofflaw behavior among them because they will have a reason to justify their illicit actions behind the wheel or even riding a bike or scooter. You think these cops on that evening would have thought for a second how their own illicit behavior here would set a pattern akin to the Broken Windows concept that they keep bringing up to enforce laws against lesser crimes.

And the fact that the aforementioned city blogs did not even pick up the scoop of this defiant abuse of power like they usually do whenever a biker gets hit by a car or a row of patrol cars block a bike lane is perplexing.

So to all these off-duty cops and the city blogs and also local corporate news media, what’s the fucking excuse?

Gentrification Of A Beach And Federal Parkland, The Final Chapter: Requiem For A Summer Place

596

Here are parts 1, 2 ,3 and 4

Rockaway Beach, Queens, New York

Well another summer has departed and the belated autumn solstice has arrived today after the climate change influenced unusual warmth of last October, so this would be the right time to document and review this years spring and summer season spent at Riis Park. And it’s not good at all and it has not ended well, as the dramatic changes that came forth with certain and way overdue (and selective) renovations took place

As the days of May got later, there actually was a itty bitty slither of hope for the people’s beach. The Riis Park Bathhouse renovation attracted more concessions and restaurant fare, as well as new food stands on the end of the boardwalk by the abandoned hospital and both were supplied with live laptop DJ’s. More food trucks were added to where the heart of the Brooklyn Night Bazaar Riis Park Beach Bazaar takes place, probably for people who do not care for the upscale foodie concept fare being sold in the restaurant inside and the stand by the pitch-and-putt course. There was also the return of the ludicrous high end slum camping concept Camp Rockaway in the dirty chigger infested backyard of the bathhouse. Volleyball courts were also added right in the next yard too for adventurous players and camp guests to play on the hard concrete. It was quite a sight to behold this year on every weekend, as people gathered to enjoy the summer breeze, sharing the company of diverse races and cultures, and extravagantly overpriced fast food, beer and cocktails. Vibrancy in action I believe it’s called.

It probably would be better conveyed and illustrated with pictures:

054258

257.jpg048051067040041017

018

308016007008013

It’s not exactly Coney Island, but it’s adequate enough. Especially in comparison to a decade ago when there was absolutely nothing here until a bunch of Brooklyn entrepreneurs and hipsters “discovered” it. The beach even has a cellphone tower now placed at the “abandoned” Neponsit hospital for all the foodie denizens instagram addictions. There is also app pay service for ordering, so I guess e-motorcycle delivery guys zipping on the boardwalk cutting people off is not a far away prospect.

So now it’s an actual destination spot, which is still pretty hard to believe since the Federal Parks Service didn’t give a fuck about this place for near a half century and let it rot for years. It’s even more surprising that the Bazaar folks and the hipster demo even found this summer place interesting considering it was the default garbage dump for all the neighborhoods destroyed property after Hurricane Sandy hit.

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/75/cd/41/75cd4105c03556c5871680ad4e05cde8.jpg

Even the Riis Park clock, which although still ticked and barely survived Sandy’s pounding, suddenly got a major overhaul at the beginning of the summer and now it’s faces glow in the night.

070.jpg071.jpg

But progress is progress and even though I personally have never purchased anything at the Riis Park Beach Bazaar and avoided their rip off overpriced artisan fast food and cocktails and marked up rancid craft and commercial brand beers and only went by there to use the toilets, I admit seeing business activity like this was good to see. Even if it was just prototypical upscale lifestyle bullshit.

But something was missing from all the free market vibrancy going on the boardwalk. Somehow all the restorations and renovations and all the upscale prices that went into providing a venue for the bazaar did not transfer to a very essential part of beach and parkland that was already a big attraction. In fact it was the only vibrant destination spot before the natural disaster of a category one hurricane and the unwelcome appearance of gentrifiers hit the people’s beach (yes, I’m aware of the irony that gentrifiers are people too) and that is the picnic and grilling area.

This would probably be better illustrated and conveyed with sadness with pictures:

290

081068023285078093599095072

Before that bitch Sandy came, it was arguably the best and most spacious grilling area in the city. Despite how small it looks, it had ample space and plenty of tables and grills for anyone that showed up anytime. It also had a lot of wind swept trees from the powerful Atlantic Ocean winds that gave the picnic area a cool presence and a visual wonder of nature.

But where are the goddamn tables? This is a federally tax payer subsidized picnic area.

Usually they get moved around by people for their cookout parties but there used to be a lot more out here. A lot more. It’s darkly amusing though pretty annoying that the Riis boardwalk has tables while the picnic area barely as any especially this year as the people brought more of their own chairs and tables than ever before. So National Parks apparently feel that the people actually making an effort to come to the people’s beach is not as worthy of table provision as the people that show up for the fucking beach bazaar. It should be noted that the people who grill out here are way more diverse than the bazaar people, ranging from African-Americans, Spanish people from Puerto Rico and South America, the Ukraine and Russia and even a few Italian-Americans.

A lot of the grill areas visitors also brought their own grills, as what looks like about 30 of them got destroyed and were never replaced (even from last summer too). All that are left are ashen stumps.

085070064004

To compound this offensive slight of an essential park area for citizens, the National Parks Service also decided not to provide the picnic area with ash cans to dump the hot coals in, leading people to dump mounds of smoldering coals and dust to pile up on the few grills left standing. Also noticeable is the lack of garbage cans too.

097343

There is something going on here and it’s appalling. Because what we got here is obvious discrimination and blatant inequity of parks amenities. Because the people that use the grilling area are not going to go to bozo bazaar and waste their money there when they already spend it on their own food and booze that they hauled all the way from Brooklyn and Queens.

Although this was evidently done by vandals, the National Park Service helped destroy this grill area. Classic demolition by neglect. Although by the ways some of these grills look and how many are gone (even by the gazebos), it looked like it was done by malicious force. The tables that were once here have vanished gradually during the years as the amount of tables on the boardwalk gradually grown.

This is a pretty shitty way to distribute public space. In a way, this is similar to the whole “affordable housing” concept of building expensive apts along with lower rental ones for the baseless rationale that poor places can’t exist without rich spaces. The bazaar being the 80% market rate and the grill area being 20% affordable. And the results of where the exclusivity lies is brazenly apparent.

But really what happened? This is the people’s beach right? How could the NPS and even the Riis Park beach bazaar let such discriminatory maltreatment of green space occur. And with the prices they charge for their artisan fast foodie fare and pretentious cocktails which the average person spends about $100 during the day consuming and along with the existence of an idiotic luxury lifestyle campsite, how come none of that money as translated to the upkeep for the grill area? Or even to other area of the park like the baseball field and the nearby handball, tennis and newly painted shuffleboard courts?

089088

136255

There is something foul afoot with the beach bazaar, which in fact doesn’t even resemble one since real bazaars are dense with concessions and tent stores and games while this is set up in isolated areas far from each other. Another reason for the dubious profitability to justify the existence of this is that the organizers and promoters had their own Brooklyn Night Bazaar kicked out of a catering hall because they couldn’t afford the rent. This is the second time they got kicked out of the borough that they are responsible for gentrifying. Is it possible that the effort by Gothamist to help their Brooklyn transient comrades by writing a wretchedly and laughably pathetic journatisement post on Camp Rockaway didn’t help at all? Apparently not, because the proprietors of CR had to distribute discount coupons (and it looks like they had to skimp a little on the ink at the printers shop too)

133.jpg

But I digress. Actually no all this is relative. The Riis Park Beach Bazaar is a failure and it’s clearly still being enabled. There are obviously some investors behind them that have bigger plans for Riis Park. And it surely involves privatization. Because what the grill area looks like now is ripe for plunder. The grill area is practically barren now and it looks ripe to be usurped for obnoxious commercial promotion events and dickweed startup networking functions.

It doesn’t have to be this way but it’s inevitable, for park privatization is spreading everywhere supposedly because the funding isn’t there to maintain them. And the Riis Park grilling area appears to show that there still isn’t funding for it, although it’s blatantly obvious that it’s being ignored on purpose. Every year gets worse over there, NPS clearly is trying to discourage citizens from using it and presumably their are vested interests to make Riis a luxury destination given the other changes and distressing developments happening on the Rockaway peninsula

111122013

014229233

Despite years of warnings and universal scorn from the citizenry of the five boroughs the scourge of gentrification of wanton hyper-development, real estate market speculation/fabrication and the mindless frivolous spending demographic they attract are not going to fade soon and it looks as if it’s going to spread faster instead of gradually now.

And it’s more than certain that is going to happen one of the best summer places in New York City in the borough of Queens (although I think a lot of these newbs think it’s in Brooklyn). For now, I will concede defeat and let the Riis Park picnic go. Which sucks because I love grilling out and I make kickass BBQ burgers. This glorious place was the easiest to get to on bike, despite only a few uphills on the two Cross Bay bridges, it takes less than an hour to get to Riis even while making a stop to get food and Yuenglings at Waldbaums.

But now it’s over. At least writing about it’s slow death is.

Goodnight Riis Park.

As the cops pursued him, the man ran into a backyard then and continued to shoot at them as they approached, leading the cops to fire back in defense leading to the man’s demise. After the outstanding job the cops did taking down the criminal, a cop stupidly cracked that there was one less guy that will sue them.

Also in Brownsville, five people got injured in a car crash after the driver sped down the street in the wrong direction. The driver abandoned the vehicle and his passengers and fled.

Again in Brownsville, a man who wasn’t associated with a group of people drinking in public being dispersed by cops in front of a liquor store was confronted, yelled at then thrown down to the ground and wailed on repeatedly by an officer after he tried to go in there. After a seven block pursuit which involved another  patrol car crashing into another vehicle injuring four cops inside during the chase, the culprit abandoned his car and ran away to an abandoned building and ran up the roof where he got cornered by five cops who got injured trying to detain him after he yelled that he was going to jump off.

Also in East New York, a man on parole for two months got shot in the face and left for dead on the street. He died hours later.

Also in Crown Heights during J’Ouvert, a woman stuck her ass in front of a cop and kept grinding at him for 3 minutes and professionally ignores her advances while another cop obliges another dirty dancer and boogies with her butt. Guess which cop will be ready if there is some guy lifting wallets or a suspicious person is discarding bulky backpacks in the crowd.

Again in Crown Heights during J’Ouvert, an idiot dancing in the street got flipped like a bowling pin by a hit and run driver.

In Chinatown, a mentally ill homicidal homeless man bludgeoned five other homeless men by hitting them with a 15 pound fence metal pipe, killing four of them and critically injuring one as they roughly slept in front of closed storefronts in the mayor’s quote unquote safest big city in America. The victims were aged from 46 to 83.

The mass murderer wound up on the streets when his mother kicked him out for assaulting her and has 14 prior arrests, including other assaults on his fellow homeless. Despite this record of mayhem, he was able to get back on the streets when a non-profit paid his bail after he served a month in jail for his arrests of groping a woman at a homeless shelter and fare evasion after he got picked up by cops by missing his court hearings. Following these bad judgements by a careless charity group and a Brooklyn judge, the psycho killer took shelter and squatted in an abandonded house next to his mother’s house in the Bronx.

In Edenwald, a plain clothers cop patrolling the Edenwald Houses where a prior shooting took place spotted a man on the street and and tried to stop and question him, but the man ran away, so he pursued him on foot and caught him, managed to disarm the suspect who was armed and they both wound up wrestling with each other. The man then tried to grab the gun from the cops holster during the struggle as the cop yelled the suspected man was reaching for it. During the tussle, the cop held on and managed to squeeze off 5 shots in the air. Then 5 other cops that showed up to assist fired 10 shots towards them, killing the suspect and the police officer.

The NYPD’s own reports and the ones they dispensed for corporate local news stations and newspapers and mainstream blogs to cover had so many glaring inconsistencies that it was obvious a narrative was being manufactured for consent for viewers and readers. The cops involved in the tragedy even added to the confusion by claiming they were being shot at.

This is the second cop gunned down in the line of duty during an emergency call or apprehension of a criminal suspect. The first was back in February when a detective got shot hit by a fusillade of 42 bullets shot to take down an idiot robbing a cellphone store. And like those cops responsible for the death of their fellow officer in Richmond Hill, the identities of these cops are not known.

The stupid driver and aspiring rapper lived in the same apartment building with the mother and her late child and also did contractor work at NYCHA buildings and for the city department of design and construction although he is not listed in any personnel records for those departments. Which means NYCHA and the NYC DDC hired a guy and paid him off the books. Who knows what public housing buildings or structures he worked on. Or didn’t even work on.

In Mott Haven at the 149th St/Grand Concourse Station, a man got caught by cops going throught the service gate without paying and was patted down and taken into the precinct located on the platform. While giving lame ass excuses for his farebeating, the cops lifted his shirt and exposed a gun that they weren’t even aware of as the perp continued gabbing to the desk officer.

One of the cops during this sad display of incompetence was a sergeant. But what’s even worse is that this guy made bail from his previous arrest for gun possession after he threatened to shoot a nurse at a hospital a few weeks before and he got physical with cops when they were giving a summons to a friend of his and made threats to shoot cops once he got his license to carry a gun back in June.
